Issue/Introduction

During a troubleshooting session it may become necessary to temporarily allow Clipboard Sharing for a Technical Support Engineer (TSE) to access the clipboard contents of the remote controlled system.

This is particularly helpful for copying logging, error messages, and debugging information from an SSH terminal or a UI or pasting long scripted commands to run on the SSH terminal.

This article outlines how to enable clipboard sharing for a Zoom session when using the Zoom Desktop Application.

Resolution

How to enable clipboard sharing

  • On the floating Zoom meeting controls click the option "More".

  • You will be presented with a list. Click the option "Remote Control" at the end of the list:

  • Then finally select "Share clipboard" to enable the support engineer to perform copy/paste over the Zoom session.

Notes:

If you stop sharing your screen and then start again, it will be necessary to reconfigure sharing.

If you're using a jump box, another words remoted into another desktop session, then sharing the clipboard won't allow copy/paste unless the Zoom session is open in the jump box.
