Environment

Cause

The issue occurs when the VM(s) are part of the VM group(s) tying it to specific hosts within the source cluster preventing it from moving to a host in the destination cluster.

Resolution

Remove the VM(s) from the VM Groups and move the VM to the destination cluster. To remove VM from the VM Group in vCenter:

  • Browse to the cluster in the vSphere Client.
  • Click the Configure tab.
  • Under Configuration, select VM/Host Groups.
  • Select the VM Group referenced in the error message.
  • The VM(s) part of the group are listed in the same window, select the affected VM and click Remove.
