IBM CICS for 6.1 and higher has documented that an AXS1 abend should occur when a user attempts to run a Category 1 transaction directly from a terminal.
On a system running the ACF2/CICS interface, an AKC3 abend is seen instead. Why is this occurring?
The ACF2/CICS interface does not allow Category 1 transactions to be executed directly from a terminal. Such requests will fail with an AKC3 abend, while IBM CICS fails them with an AXS1 abend. With the ACF2/CICS interface, an AKC3 abend will be seen instead of an AXS1 abend when Category 1 transactions are executed from a terminal. This is intentional, normal behavior of the ACF2/CICS interface.
