Issue/Introduction

Attempting to integrate a vCenter that is using a custom certificate with Aria Operations and you receive an error when validating the connection.

"Unable to establish a valid connection to the target system. undefined"

Environment

vCenter 7.x
vCenter 8.x
Aria Operations 8.x

Resolution

In vCenter take snapshots of all the Aria Operations nodes before any maintenance activity.

    1. In the Aria Operations UI browse to Administration - Control Panel - Trusted Certificates, locate and delete the expired certificate from the list in Aria Operations.
    2. Export the new vCenter certificate and save as .pem format.
      • Browse to the vCenter, click the lock or site information tab to view the certificate.
      • Select the certificate Details and Export the certificate in Base64 format.
      • Open the exported certificate in Notepad++.
      • Save the file with a .pem extension
    3. Import the certificate.pem into Aria Operations.
      • In the Aria Operations UI browse to Administration - Control Panel - Trusted Certificates, select IMPORT and browse to the certificate.pem saved in the previous step.
      • Select Preview and verify the certificate details are as expected.
      • Once verified select Import to add the new certificate to the Trusted Certificates.
    4.  In the Aria Operations UI browse to Administration - Integrations, EDIT the vCenter adapter to VALIDATE and SAVE the configuration.
