Issue/Introduction

  • When completing a Cold migration for a powered off VM, the following ERROR is generated : "Services are not enabled on the deployed Service Mesh"


 

  • Additional example message seen when validating the Migration

Cause

This migration method uses the VMware NFC protocol. It is automatically selected when the source virtual machine is powered off.

Resolution



    • From the HCX Console, navigate to Interconnect > Compute Profiles. Edit the required Compute Profile and select  "Cross-cloud vMotion Migration"  and continue till the end and save.


 

    • Compute Profiles on both the source and destination side will need to have Compute Profiles with the "Cross-cloud vMotion Migration"  enabled or a message similar to the below image will be presented

 

 

 

    • After adding the  "Cross-cloud vMotion Migration " service  resync the service mesh.

 

    • Attempt the migration again
