Issue/Introduction

The ZFS dataset CNM4H00.ZFS is mounted to /directory/sysview/cnm4h00 in some lpars but not in others.

However, Sysview is running without issue in the lpars where this ZFS is not mounted.

what is the correct configuration for CNM4H00.ZFS ?

Environment

Sysview 17.0

Resolution

The ZFS file CNM4H00.ZFS and the directory /directory/sysview/cnm4h00 are created by the INST0002 job during the installation of Sysview.

The /sysview/cnm4h00 contains directories that are necessary to apply maintenance to Sysview and also to run the JVM component and/or the SYSVIEW Application Server (SYSVAPPS)

The instructions in INST0002 explain the following:

The parmlib member SYS1.PARMLIB(BPXPRM00) should be
updated to add a permanent MOUNT statement for this
mount point.

This mount point should only be mounted in
read/write mode, MODE(RDWR), on the system where
maintenance will be applied as it is an SMP/E
target directory.

If you are running the JVM component this mount
point should be mounted on all other systems in
read-only mode, MODE(READ), so the Z/FS may be
shared by multiple systems.

Broadcom suggests having this directory mounted.

However, If this ZFS is not mounted, Sysview will run fine if the JVM component or the SYSVIEW Application Server Address Space (SYSVAPPS) is not used.
