Issue/Introduction

  • ESXi is experiencing intermittent crashes with a purple screen of death (PSOD) being shown
  • The error code in the first line of the PSOD is:
    #PF Exception 14 in world <world_id>:EnsNetWorld- IP 0x<hex_address> addr 0x10
  • The server which ESXi is installed on has Broadcom NetExtreme network cards installed
  • The driver used by these network cards is a bnxtnet version below 224.x
  • NSX-T is configured on the host
  • See below for an example:

Environment

  • ESXi 7.0.x

Cause

This is caused by a fault in certain bnxtnet driver versions.

Resolution

The issue is fixed in the bnxtnet driver versions 224.0.149.0 and newer. If you are using an older driver version, please update the bnxtnet driver.

Should you experience similar looking issues despite using this or a newer driver version, please contact the Broadcom support team by opening a support request
