Issue/Introduction

  • While adding Identity Source (Open LDAP or AD over LDAP), own URL domain with single-digit in the top-level domain (TLD) cannot be used because the URL validation fails.
  • Primary server URL address contains numeric character. Example: <domain-name>.a1.
  • It does not matter if the digit is at the beginning at the middle or at the end of the top-level domain (TLD),
  • "Please enter valid URL" warning observed, and the browser does not have an option to proceed.

Cause

  • This is an expected behavior.
  • Single-digit TLD (Top-Level Domain) is not supported.

Resolution

  • The vSphere (HTML5) client will continue to deny single-digit TLD.

Workaround:

  • The Flex, CLI, and API's do not explicitly validate single-digit TLD, so it may be possible to configure an Identity source using one with this method.
  • For more information on adding an identity source using CLI, refer: Add or Remove an Identity Source Using the CLI
