VCF Operations/Automation (formerly VMware Aria Suite)

Issue/Introduction

  • The Aria Operations keeps showing the message "Communication Error: Timeout reached while trying to communicate with the server. Try refreshing the UI manually" on the UI. After refreshing the page, the message goes away for a short time and will then return again.

Upon clicking on the object’s metric, the following error message appears and subsequently disappears. This can be triggered sporadically.

  • This above Error might also show when trying to Install a New Certificate.

Environment

Aria Operations 8.x

Cause

This would normally be caused by temporary network issues that affects the stability of the cluster or general performance degradation.

Resolution

Workaround: Reboot Aria Operations fully by taking the cluster offline and then rebooting Aria Operations VMs in vCenter.

Aria Operations fully reboot:

  1. Go to Aria Operations ADMIN UI page.
  2. Take the cluster OFFLINE.
  3. Once ALL nodes and the cluster are offline, login to the vCenter where the Aria Operations VMs are located.
  4. Run the Guest OS Restart for the Aria Operations VMs (only the analytics nodes. CPs are not included here).
Note: Whenever possible, consider the Shutdown and Startup sequence for a Aria Operations cluster.
  5. Once the VM's are fully rebooted, login to the ARIA Ops ADMIN UI page and bring the cluster online.

If the issue returns, open a case with support.
