Issue/Introduction

Deployments in Aria Automation fails with below error when NSX is involved for networking

Provisioning operation failed. Cannot deploy library item b6546be9-xxxx-4exx-99xx-d84a71xxxxx ( com.vmware.vdcs.util.resource_not_accessible The operation failed due to Network interface 'VirtualVmxnet3' uses network 'DVSwitch[50 02 xx xx xx xx xx xx-5f xx xx xx xx xx xx xx](DVS not found)', which is not accessible.)

This situation is only observed when the deployment are done via Aria Automation and direct from vCenter the deployment will work fine

Environment

VMware Aria Automation 8.x

Cause

NSX indicates that the cluster status is on "Preparation failed" state because of one or more host failure within the vCenter cluster.

Resolution

To workaround this issue :

  • Restore vSphere Esxi host back to a working state (In short, back in connected status in vCenter)
  • If the ESXi host is not recoverable due to a hardware failure issues or any other reasons, you can consider to remove the host from vCenter cluster. This action will enable NSX to show the cluster status as "Prepared," post which Aria deployments will go through successfully.
