VMware Aria Suite

Issue/Introduction

  • VMs has 2 adapter instance. One of them is the current adapter instance and the other one is to which it is incorrectly redirected.
  • More than one collection states of the same adapter kind on the resource. The value of collection state for each of these adapter instances is one is showing collection (Green Checked) and other is showing non-existing (Greyed).

The Launch-in-Context integration for vCenter points to the old vCenter causing it to show the following page.

Environment

Aria Operations 8.16.x

Resolution

Resolved in a future release (Aria Operations 8.18.2 / ETA End of November 2024).

Additional Information

Steps to identify the VMs affected:

  1. Navigate to Inventory and check the flag for "Identifier 3" column
  2. Sort by "Identifier3" column
  3. Open filters and copy/paste the VMEntityVCID value that we know for sure that belongs to the problematic VM
  4. Type Virtual Machine as Object Type in the filter
  5. Press enter to filter with these two criteria
  6. Check Collection State for VMs. Those VMs that have "Not Existing" state (with old vCenter) together with "Collecting" state (with new vCenter) should be those that are needed

It is also possible to use the Aria Operations UI controls to delete the VM objects affected and then rediscover with the new vCenter adapter instance as a workaround.
