"Error occurred while fetching tls: String index out of range: -1" when replacing vCenter Server Machine Certificate

Issue/Introduction

When attempting to replace the machine SSL certificate for vCenter through the web UI, you receive an error: "Error occurred while fetching tls: String index out of range: -1"

Cause

This is a known issue in the vCenter 7.x web UI when using the browse functionality to upload the certificate files.

Resolution

To work around the issue, copy and paste the text from the certificate files into the designated boxes as appropriate.
