Steps to transfer a License: 

Note: The exact steps might vary slightly depending on your specific NSX-T version and configuration. Always consult the official VMware documentation

  • Prepare the New NSX Manager:

    • Ensure compatibility: Verify that the new NSX Manager is compatible with the license you want to transfer.
    • Check hardware requirements: Make sure the new hardware meets the minimum system requirements for the license.
  • Obtain the License Key:

    • Log in to your My VMware portal and locate the license key associated with the NSX-T environment you want to transfer.
  • Prepare the Current NSX Manager (Old):

    • Create a backup: Back up the current NSX Manager configuration to ensure a safe rollback if necessary.
  • Transfer the License :

  •   In the New NSX Manager UI navigate to the System tab.

    • Go to Licensing
    • Click Add License.
    • Enter the license key you obtained in step 2.
    • Click Add.
  • Verify the Transfer:

    • Check license status: Ensure that the license is successfully transferred and activated on the new NSX Manager.
    • Test functionality: Verify that all NSX-T features are working as expected after the transfer.
  • Delete the license from the Current NSX Manager (Old) once you have verify the transfer in Step 5.
