Commission of host fails on validation - < hostname> Host ESXi version - <version> is not supported. VCF supported ESXi versions - [<version> , <version>]

Issue/Introduction

Commission of the hosts fails during validation. 

Example : 

Host ESXi version - [version A] is not supported. VCF supported ESXi versions - [version X, version Y]

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 

SDDC Manager

VCF 4.x 

VCF 5.x 

Cause

The SDDC manager checks the database for all available builds in the VCF infra. 

Based on the available versions in the database, the sddc manager calculates the compatibility and allows the users to commission the host. 

Hence when attempting to commission a host version that is not already present the SDDC manager, the task will fails for compatible versions will fail. 

Resolution

Following can be checked to ensure smooth commissioning process 

• Validate  the current SDDC version . 
• Validate the ESXi version as per BOM - VCF BOM version
• Validate if the esxi version in the SDDCs manager is on async patched(4.x) or flex BOM versions (for 5.2.x and later). 
• Image the hosts as per the version based the above evaluation. 

NOTE: In case of custom image reach out to vendor for specific image with respective build number .
