Issue/Introduction

vSAN skyline health reports error for triggered alarm

vSAN online health alarm 'ESXi system logs stored outside vSAN datastore'

Environment

VMware ESXi 7.x

Cause

This alarm will be triggered if ESXi syslog or scratch partition are stored on a vSAN datastore, which can cause the ESXi host to become unresponsive to VMware vCenter and the host CLI.

Resolution

Reconfigure scratch or syslog to non-vsan datastore.

For syslog reconfiguration does not require host reboot just require syslog service reload

For scratch reconfiguration host reboot is required.
