Searching for 1 IP address in Oneclick brings up 3 devices

Issue/Introduction

While I try to search for an IP address,  it will show 3 devices with different ip's & host name.

Locator search by list is not working. When using Locator Search by name or IP and with list option I am pulling far more back than what's in the list.

If there are three devices that share a common IP address in the ipAdEntAddrtable (attribute) data a Locater search for the shared IP address will find all three devices.

Cause

The default Locater Search by IP will seek all IP references for all device models.

This includes the shared IP list with common IP addresses seen in the ipAdEntAddrtable (attribute) populated from the devices MIB data.

Resolution

There are two ways to resolve this.

The first is environmental. Ensure no devices have shared common IP addresses.

The second is in One Click. Create a custom Locater search based on the Network_Address attribute (attribute ID 0x12d7f). This will search only the primary IP set on the models sought, the same IP used to discover/poll the device in Spectrum.

To complete this:

1. Open the One Click WebApp.
2. Select the Locater tab.
   • 
3. In the Create Search Window use the dropdown to select Network Address.
   • 
4. Select a Comparison Type and other necessary configurations settings as needed.
5. Set the "Prompt when Launched" radio button.
6. Select Save As.
   • Choose the Folder to save it in.
     • Devices is a good match for this search.
     • Can also create a Custom folder to house custom searches.
7. Save the search and click OK to exit or Launch to run it.
8. Once saved it will appear under the folder it was saved in. For example:

9. When running the search we should see this appear requesting an IP to search.
   • 
   • Enter a specific IP, or select the List button to enter an IP list.
10. The results will return all models using the specified IP.
    • This will include the primary device IP as well as any component models also using the same IP.
    • Use search parameters to limit results to specific models or model types.
      • Use them to include or exclude as needed to fine tune the custom search results.
