Issue/Introduction

When attempting to bring the Aria Operations cluster online, the cluster seems to get stuck in a going online state with no change for 30 minutes or longer.

The message "Cluster initialization is in progress" is displayed underneath the button which is used to bring cluster online.

This issue might also occur on a brand new installation during deployment and is stuck for several hours.

Environment

VMware Aria Operations 8.x
VMware vRealize Operations 8.x
VMware vRealize Operations Manager 7.x
VMware vRealize Operations Manager 6.x

Cause

  • If this issue happens on a brand new installation, there could have been one or more built-in solutions (adapters) that were not able to get installed or cleaned up during the initial application installation
    • You can see this from the admin UI > Software Update page. There may be a solution stuck on a step and not executing .
  • One or more prerequisites needed prior to install may not have been met (example: DNS entries for the cluster node(s) were not in place)
  • A reboot of the node was done to try and resolve the issue, however the status of the cluster then goes into a 'Failed' state

IMPORTANT: It's best to contact Broadcom Support for cluster status , install or upgrade issues before attempting to reboot which can cause further issues.
