Issue/Introduction

Scenario under consideration:

  • A particular administrator creates a View, in Modern UX
  • Certain filters, columns etc. are made part of this View
  • This View is then shared with everyone
  • It is marked as a 'Recommended' View (Set as default for all users)
  • This administrator leaves the organization. His account is deactivated.

Questions:

  1. Is it now possible for another administrator to take over the ownership of this View, and change filters or columns or any other configurations within it?
  2. Alternatively, is it possible for an Access Group to be provided ownership of a View? So that all resources who are part of that group can make changes?

Environment

Version(s):

  • Tested on 16.2.3.

Resolution

Answers to questions raised above:

  1. It is possible to change ownership of a View from version 16.2.2 onwards
  2. It is not possible for a group of resources to own a View

A possible workaround for versions prior to 16.2.2:

  • A new administrator makes a copy of the View under consideration
  • Make changes to the columns, filters etc. in the copied View
  • Share this new View with everyone. Set it as default
  • Set the 'Recommended' flag to false on the original View.
