Subfolder mount fails using NFS v3 with vSAN File Services.

Issue/Introduction

While mounting the vSAN file service subfolder/subdirectory using NFS v3 fails with the below error on client:

Error mounting due to NFS 3.0. mount.nfs: access denied by server while mounting 

Instances can be found in the below log snippets.

Environment

VMware vSAN 7.0.x
VMware vSAN 8.0.x

Cause

vSAN File Services does not support subfolder or subdirectory mount on clients using NFS v3.

Resolution

vSAN File Services does not support subfolder or subdirectory mount on clients using NFS v3. However, NFS v4.1 can be used as an alternative solution as it supports subfolders or subdirectory mounts with clients.
