The SQL job is failing: Failed to create a connection to the database

Issue/Introduction

The SQL job is failing with the error message below.

 Failed to create a connection to the database

 

Further investigation showed that the SQL Variable object is failing when clicking on Preview with the error message below.

Failed to create a database connection: 'java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.mysql.jdbc.Driver'

 

Environment

Product: CA Automic Workload Automation - Automation Engine v21.x

Cause

Missing jdbc jar file within the "DB Service Agent/bin/jdbc".

Resolution

Please make sure that "DB Service Agent/bin/jdbc" contains the jdbc jar file compatible with the target database.
