Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
When host device is used as DVD drive in a Windows virtual machine and blank DVD media is in host's DVD drive, the following symptoms appear:

• The Windows event log reports the error:

  Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued

• The guest operating system of the Windows virtual machine runs slow

• CPU utilization on ESXi host becomes high

Resolution

Eject the blank DVD media form host's DVD drive.
