After applying PTF LU14716 users cannot access reports with Web Viewer 14.0

Issue/Introduction

Users will be able to login, but any subsequent attempt to open, save, print or export a report fails.  The errors produced will be one of the following cases:

Case 1:

For open, save and export the following message is displayed to the user and also appears in the Web Viewer log.  For print, the user is notified the report cannot be printed and the following message appears in the Web Viewer log.

CAHVS0300E Service module CAHVRPTD INIT failed with J2ZException Unknown rc 22

If DEBUG is enabled for the Web Viewer log the following message is also produced in the log.

CAHVS0098D Report Service INIT no storage address : There is no param with the name 's'

Case 2:

For open, save and export the following message is displayed to the user and also appears in the Web Viewer log.  For print, the user is notified the report cannot be printed and the following message appears in the Web Viewer log.

CAHVS0300E Service module CAHVRPTD INIT failed with J2ZException Report Service was called with an invalid function code on session 0xXXXXXXXX


If WARN is enabled for the Web Viewer log the following message is also produced in the log.

J2Z_Invoke throwing exception: Report Service was called with an invalid function code on session 0xXXXXXXXX

Environment

Output Management Web Viewer 14.0

Cause

The steps to perform in the HOLDDATA for PTF LU14716 WEB VIEWER: OPENING LARGE REPORTS USING LOGICAL VIEWS FAILS were not followed correctly.

  • Either the updated CVDELOAD load library is being used with a prior build of web-viewer.war (case 1).
  • Or the updated web-viewer.war is being used with a prior CVDELOAD load library level (case 2).

Resolution

Follow the instructions in the HOLDDATA for PTF LU14716 WEB VIEWER: OPENING LARGE REPORTS USING LOGICAL VIEWS FAILS.  The updates to the CVDELOAD load library and web-viewer.war file must be applied at the same time.

To verify the CVDELOAD load library level:

  1. Browse any of the following members in the CVDELOAD load library:
    CAHVRPTD, CAHVRPTL or CAHVUSR
  2. Search for the name of the member you are browsing.  For example, if you are browsing CAHVRPTD, search for CAHVRPTD and if you are browsing CAHVRPTL search for CAHVRPTL, etc...
  3. Repeat the search until you find the name followed by “ CCAFE00  ~RMID(XXXXXXX)” where RIMID XXXXXXX is the current PTF applied to the member.
  4. The RMID must be LU14716 or a later PTF.  If the RMID is a PTF prior to LU14716 then the CVDELOAD load library does NOT have the updates for PTF LU14716.

To verify the version and build of web-viewer.war:

  1. In the Web Viewer UI, the About Web Viewer dialog shows the Web Viewer version and build.
  2. In the Web Viewer log, message CAHVS0001I shows the Web Viewer version and build.
  3. The version must be 14.0.03 or higher and the build must be 14.0.85 or higher.  If your version or build is lower than the required version or build, the deployed web-viewer.war does NOT have the updates for PTF LU14716.
