The following error message appears when attempting to display Hardware Health in the vSphere Client.
A general system error occurred: Retrieve IPMI SEL request to host failed.
After the vpxd service is restarted, vCenter attempts to retrieve the SEL using an inappropriate API call until a full host sync occurs.
This issue is fixed in vCenter 8.0U3 and later.
The workaround is to disconnect and reconnect the ESXi host.
