At times we have partners/customers complaining of high latency on the path from the edge towards the VCG, this article discusses one the ways which we can use which is MTR trace.
This can be used on both Cloud VCGs and Partner gateways.
-We can run MTR trace on the VCGs towards the link IP addresses on the VCGs, this will provide a backtrace from the VCG towards the link IP address of the edge.
-Below is an example of a MTR trace:
-MTR will display the hops from the VCG towards the IP address with the packets being sent/received, Average/Best/Worst latency.
-We can use the information from the above output to determine which Hop has issues in regards to latency or drops to refer to the carrier for the same.
This command can be used on the gateways to perform a trace and it will give information regarding the hops in the path, latency and packet loss which could assist in isolating the issue.
