Issue/Introduction

  • A cluster is being unstretched using the steps provided in Unstretch a Cluster
  • The Unstretch vSAN Stretch Cluster task fails and the errors below are displayed on the SDDC UI
A problem has occurred on the server. Please retry or contact the service provider and provide the reference token
    Expect 1 but 0 found for DistributedVirtualPortgroup:<az2_PORTGROUP_NAME>
    • az2_PORTGROUP_NAME is the name of an az2 port group in the specific environment.

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 5.x

Cause

  • An az2 portgroup has been removed from the vCenter directly, the SDDC Manager is not aware of the removal having happened.
  • This can be verified by reviewing the vCenter UI to see if the az2 port groups are all present or if one or more are missing.

Resolution

  • The resolution here requires editing the SDDC database in order to skip the subtask to "Remove AZ2 Portgroups" and allow the workflow to complete.
  • Contact Broadcom support to perform this resolution.
