Cannot connect host to vCenter after license update

Issue/Introduction

The host license had expired. 

The following errors are seen from the vSphere client. 

 

 

Environment

vSphere 7.0
vSphere 8.0

Cause

A hung Maintenance Mode task on the ESXi host. 

Resolution

Login to the vCenter with the [email protected] account.

Find the Maintenance Mode task in the Task and Events tab. 

Cancel the task.

Connect the host back to vCenter.
