Issue/Introduction

  • You are using TKGI, Tanzu Kubernetes Grid Integrated edition and have recently scaled down one or more applications
  • You are using NSX Container Plugin, NCP, in Manager API mode
  • IP Pools and Logical Switches remain in NSX UI after scale down
  • IP Pools and Logical Switches have no allocations, and the associated subnets are not freed from the container IP block(s).

Environment

VMware NSX
VMware Tanzu Kubernetes Grid Intergrated.

Cause

With TKGI, Tanzu Kubernetes Grid Integrated edition, automatic removal of unused IP Pools and Logical Switches is only available with Policy API

Resolution

NSX Container Plugin using NSX Manager API does not automatically remove unused IP Pools or Logical Switches. This feature is only available in NSX Policy API

Consider Migrating from NSX Manager API to Policy API for TKGI
