Issue/Introduction

After applying maintenance to SYSVIEW when trying to access SYSVIEW from TSO, the following abend may occur:

SYSTEM COMPLETION CODE=212    

IEC909I 212-03 or IEC909I 212-01

The module may be ISPMAIN and other modules have been seen also.

The abend has been seen on a  z/OS 2.5 to z/OS 2.4 backout test.

Cause

IEC909I 212 errors occur due to LNKLST processing and LLA processing becoming out of step with each other.

Resolution

IBM advised that it appears that this error might be a problem with the linklist.

The LINKLIST and LLA processing has to be synchronized to resolve this error.

To be clear, this abend occurs before SYSVIEW has even started. The abend happens outside SYSVIEW.            

 

 

Additional Information

It was also mentioned by IBM that the use of  "LNKLST UPDATE JOB(*) may cause unpredictable results.
