Issue/Introduction

  • There is a requirement to do an admin shutdown of a T0 BGP session.
  • This may be required for general testing.

Environment

VMware NSX

Resolution

NSX does not provide any option to manually shutdown individual BGP sessions.

Options:

  1. Shutdown the BGP session from the TOR side.
  2. Block the BGP traffic for the specific session on the Gateway Firewall or on the physical network.
  3. Temporarily delete the BGP session from the NSX User Interface.
