Issue/Introduction

When accessing to Windows 11 23H2 via RDP, the volume icon is unresponsive and can't be controlled using the volume icon on the system tray.
Mute/Unmute operations are also not possible.

This issue occurs when installing the SVGA driver included with VMware Tools.
This issue does not occur in releases prior to Windows 11 23H2.

Resolution

There is no permanent solution at this time.


Workaround:
This issues can be avoided in the following two methods.

1. Uninstall the SVGA driver
2. Go to Windows Settings -> System -> Sound -> Volume and change the volume or mute/unmute in the screen.

This issue doesn't occur on Windows 11 24H2.
In addition to the above workaround, this issue can also be avoided by updating to Windows 11 24H2.
