Issue/Introduction

The virtual machine console for any VM is unable to be displayed using the vSphere Client.  Only a black screen with a spinning icon is displayed.

 

 

Using the ESXi host GUI, the virtual machine console for any VM can be displayed successfully. 

Environment

  • vCenter Server 7.x
  • vCenter Server 8.x

Resolution

Restart the services on the vCenter Server, which should restore the ability to view the virtual machine console through the vSphere Client again.

  • service-control --stop --all && service-control --start --all
