VMware vCenter Server

Issue/Introduction

  • Navigating to Monitor >> Interoperability in the vCenter user interface, the following warning banner is displayed:

"Before upgrading, check the compatibility of 3rd party products that are registered with vCenter Server."

This is unexpected as the installed version of Aria Operations has been confirmed as interoperable with vCenter using https://interopmatrix.vmware.com/Interoperability

  • Applying the steps for vRealize Operations Manager Health Data is not present in the vSphere Web Client does not resolve the issue.
  • When checking the extension manager there are 3 entries com.vmware.vrops , com.vmware.vcops and com.vmware.vrops.install.  The entries com.vmware.vrops and com.vmware.vcops shows the correct version but the extension com.vmware.vrops.install shows 1.0

Environment

vCenter 7.x and later

Aria Operations 8.12 and later

Resolution

The recommendation is to :

  1. Upgrade vCenter as normal ignoring the warning , this removed the entry com.vmware.vrops.install.
  2. After the vCenter upgrade completes re-register the plugin
