Issue/Introduction

Having issues exporting VM/Host rules and groups, and also the members of those groups, and importing them into a new vCenter

Environment

vCenter Server 7

vCenter Server 8

Resolution

VMware does not provide any tools for such exporting/importing of VM/Host rules and VM/Host groups.

Every time you register/create a VM on the vCenter, the VM has a new VMid, meaning exporting/importing is not possible as the VM will not have the same ID.

The above would be the same for the ESXI, and for every object in the vCenter.
