Unable to see license key information in reports generated on Usage Meter 4.x

Environment

VMware vCloud Usage Meter 4.x

 

Cause

This is because of missing permission for the collection user on Usage Meter for vCenter endpoint

Resolution

Ensure that the vCenter collection user has the below privileges to be able to see the license key information in the generated reports.

• Log in to the vSphere Web Client with your administrator credentials.
• Navigate to Menu > Administration -> Roles
• Edit the vCenter user and assign the below permissions
• Set the storage privileges:

       For vCenter Server versions 8.x, select VM storage policies > View VM storage policies
       For vCenter Server versions 7.x, select Profile-driven storage > Profile-driven storage view. 

• To allow managing and viewing license keys, select Global > Licences.
• If the vCenter Server instance has vSAN enabled, select Cns > Searchable.
• Click Next and Finish.
