Issue/Introduction

      When we are using multiple VSE instances in Devtest environment, VSE_matches log file is not rotating or truncated based on properties in logging.properties file. File size has reached to 45 GB while doing load test on service.

 

Cause

    Log4J has some catastrophic bugs, if more than one running JVM tries to rotate the same target log file log4j will not rotate the log file. This is especially likely to happen if two instances of the same application are running in parallel in separate processes.


    Since both VSE services are using a common logging.properties file and writing to same file (vse_matches.log) file is not truncated.

Environment

Release:  Devtest 10.x

DevTest running with multiple VSE services.

 

Resolution

    Alternate approach to rotate vse_matches.log file is create saperate log files for individual VSE's by following steps given in below article:
