Steps to Change name of an existing vSAN Witness Node Appliance on a two Node ROBO Cluster
- Make sure vSAN Skyline Health has no issues.
- Disable vSAN stretched cluster
From vSphere Client, navigate to vSAN > Cluster Settings > General.
Select Edit and disable the stretched cluster feature. This action will effectively dissolve the stretched cluster and convert the sites back into independent clusters
- Remove the witness appliance from the vcenter inventory.
- Rename the witness host appliance as required.
- Add the vSAN witness node back to vcenter inventory.
- Enable vSAN stretched cluster and add the witness node back to the vSAN cluster
- Re-run vSAN Skyline Health check and make sure there are no issues.
Note: As a best Practice make sure you have backup of the virtual machine before doing the changes
