Understanding the impact of the "Archive Address" setting within the Content > Settings > Archive section on Symantec Messaging Gateway functionality.
Once you implement the archive address in Content > Settings > Archive, this configuration is automatically applied across all filter policies. This means that when you create a new filter policy with the "archive the message" action, the archive server details specified in the administration settings will be used by default. There is no need to manually enter or configure the archive server details each time a new policy is created.
If you have pre-existing filter policies that were set up with a different archive server before implementing the Archive Address, you have two options:
Apply to All Current Policies: If you select the "Apply to all current policies" option when configuring the new archive settings, the system will automatically update all existing filter policies to use the new archive server details. This ensures uniformity across your Messaging Gateway environment, with all policies adhering to the same archiving configuration.
Retain Original Settings: If you choose not to select the "Apply to all current policies" option, the existing filter policies will retain their original archive server settings. This allows you to maintain specific configurations for certain policies while applying the new archive address to future policies only.
