Host loses access to local storage device

Issue/Introduction

In the vSphere UI:

Lost connectivity to the device naa.############################# backing the boot filesystem /vmfs/devices/disks/naa.#############################. As a result, host configuration changes will not be saved to persistent storage.

 

In the ESX: /var/log/vmkernel.log:

iLO Console:

The iLO health monitoring status of the device / adapter located in the Embedded SAS controller ## is not responsive.

Cause

Failure of the local storage controller.

Resolution

Engage with the hardware vendor to investigate issues with the local storage controller.
