Issue/Introduction

After creating the Native Key Provider on any one of the vCenter server in Enhanced Linked Mode (ELM),

The Native Key Provider backup of other vCenter servers in ELM fails with below error.

"Backing up a Native Key Provider from a vCenter Server in Enhanced Linked Mode is not supported. Please use the
vCenter Server on which the Native Key Provider was created."

Resolution

In an Enhanced Link Mode configuration, you must perform the backup on the vCenter Server that the key provider belongs to.

To take a successful backup of Native Key Provider, in Enhanced Linked Mode (ELM), please follow the steps below:

    1. Login to the vCenter server where the Native Key Provider is configured.
    2. Select the vCenter in the Inventory view, go to "Configure", and under Security, select "Key Providers" to take the backup of Native Key Provider.
