VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle Upgrade Failure - "No Upgrade Available" Error

Issue/Introduction

When attempting to upgrade VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle (vCF-aware mode) from version 8.16.0.4 to 8.18, the upgrade process fails with the error message "No upgrade available."

Symptoms:

• Clicking on the CD-ROM option in the upgrade wizard results in the error.
• Logs in /var/log/vrlcm/vmware_vrlcm.log show below errors:

Environment

Aria Suite Lifecycle 8.16.x

Cause

The upgrade is blocked due to the absence of Product Support Pack 5 (Pspack 5) or Product Support Pack 6 (Pspack 6), which is a prerequisite for upgrading to version 8.18. Refer to VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle 8.16 Product Support Pack Release Notes

 

 

Resolution

• Apply Product Support Pack 5 or Product Support Pack 6:

  • Download and install Pspack 5 or Pspack 6 from the Broadcom portal.
  • Follow the installation instructions provided in the Pspack documentation.

• Retry the Upgrade:

  • Once Pspack 5 or Pspack 6 is applied, attempt to upgrade Aria Suite Lifecycle to version 8.18 again.

• If after ensuring the proper Product Support Pack is installed and you're still getting the same error, refer to KB https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article/314839 to clear out a potential failed upgrade attempt that left a stale entry in the upgrade_status.json file.
