Issue/Introduction

Font size within certain wizards of the applications inside Windows VM in VMware Fusion is small

Environment

VMware Fusion 12.x

Cause

Incorrect DPI scaling settings.
Application is not DPI-aware and Windows would apply improper scaling factor

Resolution

1) Check in VMware fusion VM settings for display settings and allow the Fusion recommended display settings.
a) Under Fusion’s display settings.
b) Virtual machine resolution :-
Single window/Full screen :- Use fusion display preferences.

2) Change the display scaling from default 100% to 125-150% within Windows VM.
Settings -> Display -> Change the scale to 150%.

3) Enable the high DPI options for the application from the properties tab.
a) Right click the application.exe file
b) Navigate to compatibility section under Properties tab
c) Change high DPI settings
d) Check the box labelled high DPI scaling behaviour
e) Choose system(Enhanced) option
f) Click OK and then apply.
