Issue/Introduction

  • After successful migration from Chargeback in vCD to the integrated Chargeback within Aria Operations, the Chargeback Overview dashboard is not displaying information. It appears all collections are working for vCenter, NSX, vCD adapters and all in a healthy online state.

  • In the vCD adapter logs, you might encounter an error message stating "Unable to find any resource appropriate to tenantId" or another message such as "Failed to collect CSE clusters java.net.SocketTimeoutException: SocketTimeout," as shown below.

ERROR [ajp-nio-127.0.0.1-8009-exec-9536] com.vmware.vcops.ui.util.ChargebackUtil.vcdAuthenticate - Unable to find any resource appropriate to tenantId
com.vmware.vcops.auth.exception.AuthException: Unable to find any resource appropriate to tenantId
        at com.vmware.vcops.auth.server.authN.VcdAuthNStrategy.getOrgResourceIntegerId(VcdAuthNStrategy.java:144) ~[vcops-auth-server-1.0-SNAPSHOT.jar:?]

        or

com.integrien.adapter3.vcloud.collector.resource.admin.CSEClusterResourceCollector.collect - Failed to collect CSE clusters java.net.SocketTimeoutException: SocketTimeout
Exception invoking https://###.domain.com/api/cse/3.0/clusters: Read timed out

Environment

Aria Operations 8.16

Aria Operation 8.17.2

Resolution

If you encounter the "Unable to find any resource appropriate to tenantId" error in the logs, follow the steps below to resolve the issue:

  • This error can occur when the tenant (vCD Organization) that the user is attempting to access through the Aria Operations plugin in vCD does not exist in Aria Operations or is not in a collecting state. Verify the "Filter by Provider VCDs List" and "Filter By Organizations List" advanced settings in the vCD adapter instance—both settings should be left blank.

  • If the configuration at the vCD adapter level is correct, please verify that the Aria Operations plugin is functioning properly through the vCD Tenant UI and that the error mentioned does not appear at the vCD level, as outlined in Knowledge Base article 390692.

If you encounter the "Failed to collect CSE clusters java.net.SocketTimeoutException: SocketTimeout" error in the logs, follow these steps to address the problem:

  • Delete all vCD adapter instances from the Aria Operations Integrations page.
  • If an authentication error appears while re-adding the vCD adapter instances, you may need to wait approximately 30 minutes or longer before attempting again.
  • After the vCD adapter instances have been successfully re-added, allow up to one hour for the Chargeback Overview dashboard to populate with data.
