Sensors disconnected since June 2025 due to change in Carbon Black Cloud Certificate Authority

Issue/Introduction

Endpoints disconnected from the cloud (not checking in) since June 2025

Environment

• Carbon Black Cloud Console: Current Version
• Carbon Black Cloud Sensor: All Versions
• Microsoft Windows OS: All Supported Versions
• Linux OS: All Supported Versions
• MacOS: All Supported Versions

Cause

Our Certificate Authority changed to digicert (from GoDaddy) in June, endpoints that do not have proper firewall URLs implemented would be unable to establish a secure connection to our cloud.  Announcement is available here.  

Resolution

• Confirm firewall setting for disconnect endpoints, and review our documentation on the same.  Sensors that do not have access to all of the following URLs, as documented in the subpage for each Prod instance, would have not been able to establish a secure connection to the cloud since June:
• The steps here can be used for troubleshooting to confirm if the OS has connectivity to the required URLS
• As a temporary workaround or troubleshooting step the CRL checking settings can be modified here

• Windows 3.6.x

• MacOS 3.7.3

• Linux 2.12.x

  • Any sensors below these versions will no longer be usable with Carbon Black Cloud
  • Please refer to the OER to determine if there is a newer sensor version available for a specific OS
