NSX UI reporting application crash for edge nodes, generating core.dp-fp* core dumps.

Issue/Introduction

  • NSX UI reports an alarm "application on nsx node has crashed" for edge nodes.
  • On the affected edge node, under the /var/log/core folder, we see core dumps with the name core.dp-fp*.gz.
  • IPSec VPN is being used.
  • On the affected edge node, in the /var/log/syslog.log file, we see segmentation fault leading to the generation of the core dump:

Environment

VMware NSX 4.x

Cause

Ports get deleted causing the internal interface in UID to become null.

Resolution

The issue has been fixed in nsx version 4.1.2.3.
