Unable to remove expired Tanzu license, clean up the old Tanzu license from vCenter

Issue/Introduction

After updating vCenter from 7.x to 8.X

  • The Supervisor license has expired
  • The option to delete the expired Supervisor license is greyed out
  • A new license cannot be assigned to the Supervisor

Environment

vSphere with Tanzu 7.x
vSphere with Tanzu 8.x

Resolution

Manually remove the expired supervisor license from vCenter by following the instruction in How to remove a License Manually from vCenter using ldapmodify

This issue is resolved in vCenter 8.0.0b where the supervisor license will be automatically cleaned up after disabling supervisor.
