Symantec Directory : Custom attributes do not show up after adding them to schema file

Issue/Introduction

After adding new attribute definitions correctly in existing schema file and correctly mentioning them in objectClass definition, they do not show up in LDAP browser when reviewing an existing user entry even after restarting the Directory DSA.

Resolution

This is dependent on the LDAP browser in use.

e.g. In Apache Directory Studio LDAP browser the above behavior can be experienced while in JXplorer LDAP browser the newly added attributes shows up by default.

Refer to the documentation of the LDAP browser in use. In Apache Directory Studio the schema attributes are cached even after closing the browser. Perform a reload of schemas in Apache Directory Studio browser and the newly attributes will be visible.
