How to change/revert the hostname of VMware Aria Operations for Networks for Network Platform node from custom to default.

Issue/Introduction

Symptons:

Custom hostname can result in instability/Unhealthy of Hbase and Flinkcontainer services but can effect other services.

 

Environment

VMware vRealize Network Insight 6.9.0
Aria Operations for Networks 6.10
Aria Operations for Networks 6.11
Aria Operations for Networks 6.12
Aria Operations for Networks 6.12.1
Aria Operations for Networks 6.13.0

Cause

Changing the hostname is not supported in VMware Aria Operations for Networks until version 6.12.1.

Resolution

To change back to default name, SSH to VMware Aria Operations for Networks Platform appliance and run the commands below:

For single-node setup:

sudo su 
hostname vrni-platform-release
echo vrni-platform-release >/etc/hostname

Reboot the VMware Aria Operations for Networks Platform node post execution using the below command :

reboot

Post reboot, check the service status of VMware Aria Operations for Networks Platform node by logging in as 'support' user and run the below command:

ub

./check-service-health.sh -p -d

 

Additional Information

Custom hostname for VMware Aria Operations for Networks is supported from 6.12.1 onwards.
