Issue/Introduction

While patching VMware Identity Manager (vIDM) from version 3.3.7.0 Build 21173100 to version 3.3.7.0 Build 23103647, the system encounters an "Error 15: File not found" error upon reboot. This prevents the vIDM appliance from starting, requiring a rollback to a snapshot.

Environment

VMware Identity Manager Version: 3.3.7

Cause

The issue is caused by the vIDM appliance still using the older GRUB 0.97 bootloader from SUSE Linux. When the appliance is patched, the system fails to find the necessary boot files during the boot process due to the incompatibility of the older bootloader with Photon OS, resulting in the "Error 15: File not found" error.
