Issue/Introduction
Unable to display the VM to VM path in the Aria Operations for Networks and error shows Vnic has link-local IP Address as shown in the below screenshot.
Either source or destination or both the virtual machines have the link local IP address (169.254.#.#) assigned along with the valid IP.
Environment
VMware vRealize Network Insight 6.9.0 Aria Operations for Networks 6.10 Aria Operations for Networks 6.11 Aria Operations for Networks 6.12 Aria Operations for Networks 6.12.1 Aria Operations for Networks 6.13.0
Cause
While computing the VM-VM path, Aria Operations for networks validates the VM-VM path using the IP Address of the VMs.
There are 2 IP Addresses one of them is the VM IP Address and the other Link-Local IP Address (169.254.#.#).
Every time it validates the Link-Local IP, it returns the error instead of using the other valid IP address. Link local IP address code is not handling properly, that's why it is displaying the error.
Resolution
This is a known issue, Aria Operations For Networks Engineering team is aware of this.
This issue will be fixed in the future release of Aria Operations For Networks 9.0.
As a work around, If the Link-local IP is not being used, remove the vNIC of the virtual machine which has the link local IP address and check the VM to VM path and it should resolve the VM-VM path issue.
