  • vCenter detects ESXi host became unresponsive.
  • ESXi host vpxa.log outputs like "N7Vmacore15SystemExceptionE(Too many open files)" and "N5Vmomi5Fault17HostCommunication9ExceptionE(Fault cause: vmodl.fault.HostCommunication)"
      

Environment

Versions earlier ESXi 7.0 U3Q 

Cause

File lock issue fixed in ESXi 7.0 U3Q causes the hung of vpxa process.

Resolution

Update to ESXi 7.0 U3Q
